Christmas Stocking Crochet Pattern

Christmas will be here again before you know it. This Christmas Stocking crochet pattern is really easy to make.

Stitch:ionary

  • Sl st – Slip Stitch
  • Ch – Chain
  • Mc – Magic Circle
  • Dc – Double Crochet
  • St/s – Stitch/s

Hook

4.5mm

Pattern

Rnd 1: Mc with 6dc and sl st to ch1 (6 sts).
Rnd 2: 1dc twice in each stitch around. Join and ch1 (12sts).
Rnd 3: 1dc, 1dc and then 2dc in the next stitch. Continue until you reach the end. Join and ch1 (16sts).
Rnd 4: 1dc, 1dc and then 2dc in the next stitch. Continue until you reach the end. Join and ch1 (20sts).
Rnd 5 – 11: 1dc in each stitch around. On rnd 11, join and tie off.
Rnd 12: Sl st and join a new colour and DC in the first fourteen stitches, ch1 and turn. (This begins to form the heel) (28sts).
Rnd 13 – 17: 1dc in each stitch across, ch1 and turn.
Rnd 18: 1dc in each stitch across. Tie off and leave a long end. Use this long end to sew the back heel together. Turn the work right side out. When the heel is completed, then you can make the top portion of the stocking.
Rnd 19 – 23: Join new colour and 1dc in each stitch around, join and ch1.
Rnd 24 – 28: Join new colour and 1dc in each stitch around, join and ch1.
Rnd 29  – 33: Join new colour and 1dc in each stitch around, join and ch10. Sl st back into the same stitch to form the “hanging loop”. Tie off and you are done!
