Christmas Stocking

This Christmas Stocking crochet pattern is really easy to make. You can make them in all sorts of colours and are great for small tree presents.

Pattern

Rnd 1: Mr with 6dc and 1sl st 1sl st to join rnd and ch1. 6sts.

Rnd 2: 1dc twice in each stitch around, 1sl st to join rnd and ch1. 12sts.

Rnd 3: *1dc, 1dc and then 2dc in the next stitch*, repeat * to the end of rnd, 1sl st to join rnd and ch1. 16sts.

Rnd 4: *1dc, 1dc and then 2dc in the next stitch*, repeat * to the end of rnd, 1sl st to join rnd and ch1. 20sts.

Rnd 5 – 11: 1dc in each stitch around. On rnd 11, 1sl st to join rnd and tie off.

Rnd 12: Join the white and dc in the first fourteen stitches, ch1 and turn. (This begins to form the heel). 28sts.

Rnd 13 – 17: 1dc in each stitch across, ch1 and turn.

Rnd 18: 1dc in each stitch across. Tie off and leave a long end. Use this long end to sew the back heel together. Turn the work right side out. When the heel is completed, then you can make the top portion of the stocking.

Rnd 19 – 28: Join the red and 1dc in each stitch around, 1sl st to join rnd and ch1.

Rnd 29  – 33: Join the white and 1dc in each stitch around, 1sl st to join rnd and ch10. Sl st back into the same stitch to form the “hanging loop”. Tie off and you are done!

Finishing

Cast off. Use the long end to sew the back heel together.

  • 100g DK yarn red
  • 100g DK yarn white
  • 4.5mm hook
  • wool needle
  • scissors

They measure about 20cm in height.
