Flower Coaster

You can make your own useful Flower Coasters to protect your surfaces from cups, glasses and mugs with this easy pattern.


Ch6 and sl st together to form a ring

Rnd 1: ch3 (is first tr), 2tr, ch1, *3tr, ch1* repeat * five times into ring, sl st to join to the third ch st of the first tr, 2sl st over top of tr cluster and 1sl st into ch sp.

Rnd 2: ch3 (is first tr) 2tr, ch1 in first ch sp, (3tr, ch1) in each remaining ch sp, sl st to join to third ch st of the first tr.

Rnd 3: *ch 5, 2dc in ch sp* repeat * five more times and sl st to first ch of the first ch of the round.

Rnd 4: 7tr in ch sp and sl st to first sl st of the previous round, repeat in each ch sp and sl st into top of the first tr.

Rnd 5: (1dc, 1hrt, 1tr, 3tr, 1tr, 1htr, 1dc) over each arch and sl st into first dc.


Cast off and sew loose ends.

  • 100g DK yarn
  • 5mm hook
  • wool needle
  • scissors

dc – double crochet
htr – half treble
tr – treble
st(s) – stitch(s)
sl st – slip stitch

Hints & Tips

Gauge is not critical and you can use many materials.

You could make sets of flower coasters with a yellow centre and petals in another colour or colour range.
